Featured Projects & News
Lucrecia on WTIU/PBS
Lucrecia will be premiered on the PBS affiliate station WTIU beginning November 14, 2024! We are so proud of the multimedia project in its final form: a series of short films which will air on rotation twice a day, every day, for the next three years!
Border Crossings
We are thrilled to announce Border Crossings, a multifaceted project that delves into the dynamic system of the Mexico/New Mexico border and its impact on both the creative process and the greater question of racial justice in our societies. The project, including the trio’s second album, is a respectful inquiry into the complexities of living in a border state and how that impacts the creative process.
Between Us Now
Released in April 2022, our debut album features works by Dr. Lauren Bernofsky, Dr. Alice Jones, Dr. Carrie Magin, Amy Beach, Nur Slim and Florence Price.
Commissioned Composers
Francisco Cortés-Álvarez
Amity Trio commissioned Francisco Cortés-Álvarez to write a new work titled Delicioso Hongo, which premiered at IU in April 2023. This work forms part of their Border Crossings project.
Maggie Polk Olivo
Amity Trio commissioned Maggie Polk Olivo in 2021 to write song set, Illuminating Apologues. This project is in collaboration with visual artist Haran Kim and poet Luba Winship, and it combines Olivo’s love of music composition, collaborative art making, and programming with youth in mind.
Nur Slim
Our first composer in residence is Nur Slim, who we have collaborated with in multiple projects, including our debut album, Lucrecia y el canto de los dudasaurios, and in the unfolding Border Crossings project.
